General Knowledge
Is low-level laser therapy cleared by the FDA?
Yes! Emerald Laser is FDA cleared for overall body circumference reduction and to treat patients up to 40 BMI.
How often can you get cold laser treatment?

How much weight do you lose with laser lipo?
This depends on body type and target areas. Consult your Emerald Laser™ provider for an estimate.
Is laser fat removal effective?
Yes! A Harvard study saw an average loss of 3.51 inches over two weeks in waist, hip, and thigh areas. In our own clinical trial, the average loss was 5.9 inches over four weeks. These are significant reductions.
How does low-level laser therapy work?
Emerald Laser™ is a low-level laser therapy (LLLT) that uses Erchonia lasers. When the lasers are shined towards your targeted areas, fat cells open up temporary pores to expel their fatty acids. This fat is processed naturally by the body. It’s called cold laser weight loss because these low-level lasers are “cold” — meaning they don’t cause damage or produce heat. By leaving cells intact, low-level lasers preserve tissue integrity while gently and effectively eliminating fat.
How long does it take for cold laser therapy to work?
This will depend on the patient and their body type, and how quickly their body is able to process the fat. With some patients, results using Emerald Laser™ will be seen after a few treatments, others will see results towards the end of the treatment cycle as their body will take more time to process the fat.
How long do the results of cold laser treatment last?
Since the Emerald Laser helps you lose actual fat and not water weight, results are long-lasting as long as you stick to a calorie neutral diet proceeding the treatments.
How do I know if Emerald Laser is for me?
Emerald Laser™ is great for anyone looking to lose inches, man or woman, and is the only device proven to not only treat small pockets of fat, but also those with a BMI 30+. Patients will be informed by their provider of the results they should expect and assigned a treatment plan that will help them reach their goal. Because the FDA cleared Erchonia lasers to treat the whole body, you can treat virtually any body part, including waist, hips, thighs, neck, bra fat, arms, and more.
Why don’t you kill fat cells?
Many people think of their fat cells as the enemy. The common belief is that fat cells accumulate volume to form saddlebags, love handles, and muffin-tops which in turn will rob us of our youthfulness and self-confidence. However, our fat cells are complex and dynamic entities that affect an astounding number of bodily functions, supports the processes that keep us lean, helps us regulate our metabolism and immune systems! Learn More about why we don’t kill fat cells and how we remove fat from the body with the Emerald Laser™.
How much does Emerald Laser™ treatment cost?
Emerald Laser treatment costs range anywhere from $1,500-$2,500 for 6 a treatment package. Find a provider in your area to learn the cost of Emerald Laser treatment. Contraindications
Are there any complications to the treatments?
There are no known and / or published adverse effects of low-level laser therapy.
What are the side effects of laser fat removal?
There are no known adverse effects of low-level laser therapy. Because it’s a non-invasive procedure, Emerald Laser™ requires no preparation and no recovery time — you should be able to resume your day immediately following a session. Some patients have reported a sense of deep relaxation, which may cause drowsiness. Emerald Laser™ also avoids any long-term side effects by ensuring that fat cells are never destroyed. Fat cells have vital functions, such as supporting metabolism and the body’s immune system. Because of this, cold laser therapy for weight loss chooses to eliminate fat without destroying cells.
Does low-level laser therapy cause heat damage or cancer in the tissue?
No, low-level laser by virtue of design is non-heat producing and does not alter the cell structure. The laser irradiation is non-ionizing, meaning it does not collect in the tissue.
Are there any conditions which would prevent me from low-level laser treatment?
There are no code regulated contraindications; however, since there are no long term evaluations on certain conditions, Erchonia does not recommend use on pregnant women or persons with a pace maker.
