How Long Does It Take to Recover from Laser Lipolysis?

This is one of the most common questions asked about laser lipolysis. With Emerald Laser, there is no recovery time. Emerald Laser by Erchonia — a pioneer in the laser lipolysis industry and the first company to receive FDA approval for a laser fat-reduction device — is non-invasive, pain-free, and does not require any downtime after treatment.

That’s right, after a session, most patients find that they can resume normal activities or even vigorous activities. If you’ve been considering surgery or an alternative non-invasive fat reduction solution, you owe it to yourself to speak to an Emerald Laser provider.

Non-Invasive and Pain-Free Laser Lipo

Not to be confused with surgical liposuction or fat-freezing methods, Emerald Laser is non-invasive and pain-free, so you skip the weeks of recovery or downtime.

Many people believe that laser lipo requires a recovery period, due to the similarity in its name to other fat-reduction methods, such as liposuction and cryolipolysis or “fat freezing”.

Liposuction is a surgical process where the surgeon cuts into the skin and vacuums out the fat cells in a given area of the body. Patients often feel deep, aching soreness, tenderness in the treated areas, swelling and tightness, and bruising. It can take up to a month to fully recover.

Cryolipolysis or “fat freezing” is another type of fat reduction that, like laser lipo, is non-invasive, but patients might need a few days before they can resume full activities. After the procedure, some patients may experience mild pain, swelling, and sensitivity in the treated area. These sensations can last for a few days to a couple of weeks.

There are many laser lipolysis machines on the market that may or may not require a short recovery period, but Emerald Laser doesn’t. The main reason Emerald Laser lipo does not require a down period is the way that it reduces fat.

How Emerald Laser Works

Emerald Laser targets fat cells beneath the skin with ten 532 nm laser beams. The intensity of the Emerald Laser is lower than that of other lasers designed for this purpose. The lasers burn small holes into the fat cells, creating tiny pores while also liquifying the fats contained inside. These fats slowly seep through the pores, reducing their size but not destroying them. The body’s lymphatic system then disposes of the freed lipids with other waste.

Because the goal of the Emerald Laser is to empty fat cells rather than destroy them, the laser’s intensity can be lower, so it’s also painless.

How Long After Laser Lipo Do You See Results?

Many patients notice a slight change within a few days, but full results are often apparent around 8-12 weeks depending on your treatment schedule. During this time, the patient will undergo several sessions. Each session takes fewer than 30 minutes, is painless, and requires no recovery time. That means you can schedule a session before or after work or on your lunch break without disrupting your day.

Do You Experience Pain After a Laser Fat Loss Session?

Emerald Laser does not require incisions and, unlike other fat loss methods, does not cause extensive damage to the lipocytes or trauma to the body. Most patients feel a mild sensation during the procedure, which is not at all painful. Afterward, the patient may experience redness, but there’s no pain involved.

Restrictions After Your Session

There are no standard restrictions after laser lipolysis. However, if the patient experiences soreness, pain, nausea, or any other symptom, they should avoid strenuous activity and contact their physician.

Tips for Recovery After Laser Fat Loss Treatments

You should not require a recovery period or face any restrictions related to Emerald Laser treatments. Having established this, you should listen to your body. If you are feeling unwell, you should behave the same way you do any other time you’re sick. Rest, hydrate, eat well, and, if necessary, call your doctor.
